Supporting SLTs to further their knowledge and confidence treating upper airway conditions

Read our latest quarterly newsletter - December 2025

Welcome to the SLT Upper Airway CEN (Clinical Excellence Network).

We represent UK Speech & Language Therapists (SLTs) with an interest in upper airway disorders including chronic cough, inducible laryngeal obstruction, upper airways constriction and laryngeal hypersensitivity amongst other conditions.

We run events designed to further the knowledge and networking of SLTs in this field.  Our events are run by a voluntary committee of SLTs with a  passion for supporting colleagues and championing the role of SLTs in upper airway disorders.

We aim:

  1. To provide mutual support, help and encouragement to all members.
  2. To exchange ideas and information.
  3. To deliver CPD events.
  4. To discuss policy with regard to working in respiratory services and with patients with upper airway disorders.
  5. To create more interest in and to raise awareness of all aspects of the Respiratory SLT role.
  6. To improve multi-disciplinary communication and understanding of the SLT role working with patients with upper airways disorders.
  7. To promote and participate in projects.
  8. To champion and support and share research in all areas of respiratory SLT.
  9. To liaise with RCSLT Advisers.
